Starting near the Portage Hike & Bike Trail in Kent, this multipurpose trail – on land owned by METRO Regional Transit Authority – follows an unused railroad corridor. Phase II construction, now complete, extends to Eastwood Avenue in Akron. Phase III, scheduled for construction in summer 2016, will connect to downtown Akron near the University of Akron campus.

The Freedom Trail travels 6.2 miles between the Middlebury Lot to Eastwood Avenue in Akron. When completed, this eight-mile multipurpose trail will connect Akron and Kent and become another popular linear park managed by Summit Metro Parks.

Please use trail etiquette while enjoying the Freedom Trail.
