F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm is a special-use area within Sand Run Metro Park that has been set aside for the study and enjoyment of nature. The Nature Realm was named in honor of Frank A. Seiberling, who owned this property from 1920 until 1948. The land was purchased by Metro Parks in 1964, and the Nature Realm opened in 1966.
Mr. Seiberling was founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and an early member of the park district's Board of Park Commissioners. He donated more than 500 acres to Metro Parks to help establish Sand Run Metro Park.
For the protection of this special area and the safety and enjoyment of other visitors, please follow these simple guidelines:
- Dogs are not permitted at the Nature Realm.
- Bicycles are only permitted in the parking lot. Racks are provided.
- Rollerblading, jogging and other active sports are not permitted at the Nature Realm, but may be enjoyed in other parks.
- Please remain on designated trails and walkways. Do not climb trees and other structures.
- Please refrain from picking flowers, walking in garden beds and collecting plants.
- For information about commercial and wedding photography, please call the administrative offices at 330-867-5511, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or download a SPECIAL-USE PERMIT.
