Ohio & Erie Canal Kayak Paddle

If you have any questions regarding this program, please call the Nature Realm Visitors Center at 330-865-8065, Tuesday—Saturday, 10 am—5 pm, Sunday 12–5 pm.

Join a certified instructor on the Ohio & Erie Canal for a guided, round-trip kayak paddle from Summit Lake to Manchester Road. Learn about the canal’s history and how it put Akron on the map. Minimum age is 13; ages 13 to 17 must be with an adult participant. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and be able to swim. All equipment will be provided. Location subject to change based on water conditions. Cost: $15/person. Registration is required and begins on 9/19.

Waiver Agreement

I am fully advised and agree to the following:

  • All tickets purchased are for participants who are 13 or older and can swim.
  • Participants ages 13 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is participating in the program.
  • Participants will ARRIVE 15 minutes in advance of the program to complete waivers and receive safety instructions.
  • Participants are also required to use Summit Metro Parks equipment during this program (including personal flotation devices).
  • Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, be able to swim, and are encouraged to bring sun protection.
  • The manufacturer’s recommended weight limit per kayak is 250 pounds.
  • Location, date, and time subject to change based on water conditions.
  • All sales are final.
