Admired near and far, butterflies are treasured for their beauty and grace, but frequently use camouflage, speed, poison and many more mechanisms to protect themselves. Butterflies are anything but defenseless! Join amateur lepidopterist and analytical chemist Dr. Glenn Crisler II to discover how these insects have developed a wide range of physical and behavioral adaptations to increase their odds of survival. This talk will feature butterflies of the Eastern United States and include a hike to search for butterflies in action. FASN/Visitors Center
