Good Garden Talks: High Tunnel & Hoop Bending

If you have any questions regarding this program, please call the Nature Realm Visitors Center at 330-865-8065 (Wednesday—Saturday 10 a.m.—5 p.m., Sunday 12–5 p.m.).

Join us in collaboration with Let’s Grow Akron and OSU Extension for a hoop bending demonstration and talk on season extension in hoop houses and low tunnels and maintaining soil health. Participants may bring up to six 10-foot pieces of 1/2″ electromechanical tubing (EMT) to bend during the class for making a low tunnel at home. If you are interested in screening your soil for heavy metals, OSU Extension will have low-cost soil test kits available onsite for purchase, while supplies last.

Grow your seedlings by planting seeds outdoors in vented containers to foster the naturally timed germination of climate-tolerant varieties.

    Add zing to your holidays by creating a beautiful upcycled “bling” tree. We will use small mismatched/discarded pieces of silver and gold jewelry, buttons, screws, pins, sequins, etc. that you bring from home. A limited amount of additional bling pieces and all other supplies will be provided. Registration is required and begins 12/4.
