Beginning Monday, January 12, Downy Loop Trail at Wood Hollow Metro Park (2121 Barlow Rd., Hudson) will be closed for several months for maintenance.
Only a section of the 1.2-mile Downy Loop Trail is impacted by maintenance work. Visitors may still access portions of the trail not impacted by the closure and return via the same route; closure signage will be posted. Other amenities at Wood Hollow Metro Park, including the parking lot, picnic shelter, restroom and playfield will remain open.
The closure is necessary to perform maintenance on the trail’s boardwalk, which is deteriorating. Because it has reached the end of its service life, the park district will remove and replace it with a sustainable, natural-surface trail. While there is no definitive timeline for completion due to the weather-dependent nature of the work, the closure is expected to last several months. For updates, visit bit.ly/SMP-Alerts.
