SUMMARY:Free the Falls Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Members of the public are invited to attend a community update on the process to remove a 420-foot-wide\, 60-foot-tall dam within Gorge Metro Park. The dam is one of the largest unresolved impediments to restoring the water quality of the Cuyahoga River and its removal will improve river ecology\, create recreational opportunities and drive economic benefits within the local community. \nOn Monday\, May 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Branch (60 S. High St.\, Akron)\, partners will present a project status update. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.\, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Before the meeting\, enjoy refreshments and browse Free the Falls t-shirts for sale. \nParking is available at the garage at 40 S. High St. or the surface lot at 71 S. High St. Parking in the High and Market Deck is free after 6 p.m. on weekdays\, with one free hour available through validation at the library welcome desk. Additional parking information can be found online. \nASL interpretation (English to ASL) will be provided during the meeting. DESCRIPTION:Join park naturalists on a bus trip to the wetlands of Killbuck Marsh and Funk Bottoms Wildlife Areas for a morning of migrating waterfowl\, shorebirds and more. Pack binoculars\, spotting scopes\, snacks and a lunch. Dress for all-day comfort out in the elements. Registration is required and begins 2/1. Cost: $60/person. All sales are final.
