Whether you're into picnics or performances, running or reading, camping or crafting – adventure awaits in SMP.

With 16 parks, 150 miles of trail and dozens of exciting programs each month, Summit Metro Parks has an adventure for you!



Summit Metro Parks offers three archery ranges for free public use. Each is open daily, dawn to dusk, and includes multiple target distances ranging from 10 to 60 yards. Archers must bring their own equipment.

New and experienced anglers alike can enjoy lake, pond and river fishing in Summit Metro Parks. Resources are available to help ensure a great experience, including depth maps for lakes and ponds.

Summit Metro Parks manages over 70 miles of biking trails in Summit County. Multipurpose trails include the Bike & Hike Trail, the Freedom Trail and the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Or, take a ride on the Mountain Bike Trails at Hampton Hills Metro Park.


Kayak, canoe or paddleboard in Summit Metro Parks. During the summer swim season, canoes and paddleboats can be rented at Munroe Falls Metro Park and Silver Creek Metro Park. Summit Metro Parks naturalists also lead boating programs for various skill levels. Find upcoming programs here.

Stay overnight at Nimisila Reservoir Metro Park! Twenty-nine individual sites are available at our campground near the eastern banks of the 800-acre reservoir in Green. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table, and six sites have electricity. Three are ADA accessible.

Wildlife education

Countless rare and endangered species call our parks home. Venture out to discover the diversity of creatures on your own, or join a Summit Metro Parks naturalist who will guide your learning experience.

Choose Your Adventure

The winner will select an adventure for up to six people from the following options:

Creatures of the Night:

Participants will visit a nearby conservation area in Summit County where they will observe SMP biologists as they perform ecological inventories of bats, coyotes and more!

Private Fly Fishing Experience:

You and your guests will learn to tie flies, then receive a fly fishing lesson with expert guides at Brushwood Pond at Furnace Run Metro Park.

Restorations & Renovations Tour:

Join Summit Metro Parks senior leaders on a private, behind-the-scenes tour of the park district's newest projects - the restoration of the former Valley View Golf Course and the renovations of the Valley View barn and Summit Lake Pump House!

#mySMPadventure Entries


  1. No purchase necessary to win. Contest open to Summit County residents age 18 or older. Summit Metro Parks employees and their immediate families are not eligible to win.
  2. Take a picture of your adventure in an SMP park or on an SMP-managed multiuse trail and post to Instagram using #mySMPadventure between July 1 and July 31, 2019.
  3. The Summit Metro Parks location must be included in the post, either as a tag or in the caption. A list of qualifying parks and trails can be found here.
  4. Accounts must be public to be eligible.
  5. Multiple entries are permitted and increase chances to win.
  6. Summit Metro Parks staff reserve the right to review posts to determine eligibility.
  7. A winner will be randomly selected from qualifying entries and announced via Instagram on August 2. The winner will have until 4:30 p.m. on August 7 to claim their prize. If the prize goes unclaimed, an alternate winner will be randomly drawn. This process will be repeated until a winner is identified.
  8. The winner will be provided with a selection of dates on which park staff are available to provide their VIP adventure. The park district will make every effort to host the VIP adventure on or before November 30, 2019.
