Accounting/Human Resource Assistant | Seasonal Ranger | Lifeguards


Position Accounting/Human Resource Assistant
Salary / Classification Salary Schedule C / Part-Time, Year-Round
Benefits Ohio Public Employees Retirement; Sick Leave
Profile Provide administrative support to the Accountant and Chief of Human Resources. Edit and code invoices, prepare vouchers, process data entry work for accounting and payroll processes, maintain spreadsheets, prepare bank deposits and post to general ledger; assist with meeting preparation and set up; write letters, perform mail merges; assist with accruals audits.
Qualifications Previous experience in administrative support and accounts payable or other accounting background. Six months' office experience that requires math accuracy and attention to detail.
Conditions of Continued Employment Must successfully complete a one-year probationary period.

Position Seasonal Ranger
Salary Hourly: $10 - $13.25
Benefits Participation in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS)
Profile Under the direction of the park manager and the ranger supervisor, the seasonal ranger patrols assigned areas for the purpose of assisting park patrons to have an enjoyable, safe and pleasant park experience. Provides information, education, and assistance to park visitors to achieve resource protection, as well as visitor safety and security. Administers special-use, pavilion, and shelter permits. Serves as a commissioned Peace Officer enforcing district rules and regulations, and other applicable laws. Performs duties with tact, diplomacy, discretion, and impartiality. Works to prevent violations of park rules and other laws whenever possible. Protects life, property, and maintains good order within the parks.
Qualifications Graduation from a high school or GED required. Preferred current enrollment in accredited intern program with institution of higher learning (park ranger law enforcement). Must have Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy certification. Demonstrated emotional intelligence to include: demonstrated self-awareness and accurate self-assessment, demonstrated sensitivity and empathy, demonstrated openness, reliability, trust and consistency.
Conditions of Employment Valid CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and standard First Aid certifications obtained within two months of employment. Must have valid State of Ohio driver's license. Must successfully complete probationary period.

Position Lifeguards – Summer 2008
Salary Hourly: $7.25 - $10.50
Benefits Participation in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (PERS)
Profile Lifeguards provide a safe swimming and beach area for park visitors, perform safety-maintenance duties, and carry out instructions of supervisors and the policies of Metro Parks, Serving Summit County.
Supervision Reports to the park manager, assistant park manager, head lifeguard, assistant head lifeguard and the chief of rangers. May be called upon to oversee other lifeguards.
Responsibilities 1. 1. Perform maintenance and service functions as outlined in the lifeguard guidelines and/ or assigned by the head lifeguard, park manager or assistant park manager
2. Perform all duties of a lifeguard
3. Enforce park district rules and regulations on the waterfront area
4. Participate in the safety and risk management program of the park district
5. Perform other related duties as assigned
Education High School student or GED equivalent.
Experience One year of experience as a lifeguard at a pool or, preferably, a beach.
Knowledge and abilities 1. Ability to deal courteously with the public.
2. Ability to make a prompt response in an emergency
3. Demonstrated emotional intelligence, including: self-awareness and accurate self-assessment; sensitivity and empathy; openness, reliability, trust and consistency.
Licenses Must have successfully completed and be current in American Red Cross Senior Lifesaving Course, preferably the Water Safety Instructors Course. Must possess current certification in First Aid and CPR. Must pass a Metro Parks water test specific to the facility.
Conditions of Employment Must successfully complete a two-week probationary period.
