RESTORATION & REVITALIZATION: AFTER DAMS


The City of Cuyahoga Falls removed two dams from the Cuyahoga River in 2013, and the city continues to focus on the river. River Front Park is an example of its ongoing effort to restore water quality and expand recreation on the Cuyahoga. Learn about the city’s cleanup efforts, erosion control projects and water recreation development. Also, The University of Akron, Department of Geology, will discuss how these projects coincide with the removal of the Gorge Dam. If you are willing to get your feet wet, you can get an introduction to the science of sediment transport. After a short walk along the river, presenters will answer questions while participants eat their brown-bag lunches.
