Citizens for Metro Parks

This political action committee assures the long-term viability of the park district through fund-raising efforts and the passage of tax levies.

Metro Parks relies on one property tax to fund programs like the popular Fall Hiking Spree, as well as maintenance, operating costs, capital projects and land acquisition.

An 8-year, 1.46-mill Metro Parks levy was approved by Summit County voters in November 2006. It will collect $17 million in 2009. The cost is about 12 cents a day on a home valued at $100,000.

STOMP Bicycle Adventure
The annual STOMP Bicycle Adventure offers participants breakfast, lunch, live music and more. The event, always held the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, is a fund-raiser for Citizens for Metro Parks. It begins and ends at Howe Meadow, located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

In 1993, STOMP (the Summit Tour of Metro Parks) started with a small group of riders and volunteers. Today it is one of the largest bicycle touring events in Northeast Ohio. Each year, families and individual riders discover the scenic beauty of Summit County — from the popular Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail to the rolling hillsides of the Cuyahoga Valley and beyond.

STOMP offers something fun and challenging for everyone. And it’s not just great fun; it’s for a great cause. Proceeds benefit Metro Parks, Serving Summit County.
