Metro Parks is forming a young birders group for ages 8 and up to encourage bird watching and sharing information on bird identification, equipment and habitats. Naturalists Pat Rydquist and Meghan Doran will help youngsters build skills through indoor sessions and outdoor field trips. Expert volunteer birders will give one-on-one attention, and binoculars and field guides will be available for use at the programs. The focus for this first session will be early spring migrants. TROUT DERBY
Anglers 15 and younger each receive a $1 cash prize if they catch a tagged fish in the fully stocked Little Turtle Pond. Bring fishing gear. A limited number of rods and reels will be available for use during the derby. Minnows cannot be used as bait; worms will be available for purchase. Adults are encouraged to supervise their children but are not permitted to fish. The derby is co-sponsored by the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. F/Little Turtle Pond
