Did You Know?

Gobble, Gobble
Turkeys are becoming a common, year-round sight in the Metro Parks. Males are called gobblers, females are hens. The young are called poults.

Wormy Wood
American chestnut used to be one of the dominate species in our forests. In the early 1900s, a fungus nearly wiped out the species. Lumber, called wormy chestnut, was harvested from those dying trees.
